Geneva — Eritrea’s permanent representative to the European Union, His Excellency, Ambassador Tesfamichael Gerahtu shed a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the enigmatically self-reliant east African nation of Eritrea during a routine session with members of the press corps.
In the interview, the Ambassador claimed that Eritrea’s sole party, the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice, has long-known the detrimental nature of holding elections and as a result has spared the people of Eritrea the painstaking trouble of casting the ballot.
“The Righteous leadership of Eritrea and its people have long known that having elections is nothing but a public relations stunt, and in its usual thoughtfulness, has long ago decided to spare Eritreans the trouble of voting.” Mr. Gerahtu Illuminated.
The Ambassador further went to to cite the current elections of the United States as an example and elaborated how the current flow of news, push-notifications, needless breaking news about trivial issues has had many Americans distracted and distraught.
“Look at the US Right now — It has become to resemble a clown infested circus. While Americans Choose to engage in such tomfoolery, the people of Eritrea are in the process of building their country and also in an active state of readiness to repel any invaders, so why should the Eritrean government bother its people to vote, since it already knows what they want?” The Ambassador Queried the reporters.
It is to be recalled that the previously, Eritrea’s President Isaias Afwerki has assured reporters that his country is set to have an election sometime in the coming 4 or 5 decades.
